Here’s How RTG Medical Celebrated Being Named One of the “Best Places to Work in Omaha” for the Third Year in a Row

"BPTW-1

RTG Medical has been voted Best Places to Work in Omaha by Baird Holm and the Omaha Chamber of Commerce for the third year in a row! To be considered for this award, employees answer survey questions regarding RTG’s work environment, culture, management, and opportunities for professional growth. Winning this award for the third year in a row represents how each employee values the culture that makes RTG one of the “Best Places to Work in Omaha”.

So, how did the company celebrate such a big award? With a field trip, of course. Employees kicked off the day by chartering to the awards luncheon in Omaha, then enjoyed an afternoon of games and mingling at Lucky Bucket Brewery! If you haven’t been to the brewery yet, we highly recommend it for group outings.

What makes RTG such a fun and unique place to work? Let some of our employees tell you!

Shelby Cameron, Senior Recruiter, says, “I feel RTG Medical is the best place to work because of the atmosphere. I enjoy all of the fun events RTG is able to offer year round and the energy RTG employees bring to the work place every day which gets me excited to come into work. I also enjoy how tight knit RTG is. I have a home away from home and I love that about my work!”

Others describe RTG as a company that genuinely cares and values its employees to encourage them to work hard and create an environment that is positive. They love being rewarded for the hard work with fun outings, delicious food, and prizes.

Emily Kimmell, Credentialing Specialist, says, “I love working here because of the collaborative environment. There is cooperation and shared goals all revolving around helping each other grow in the professional lives. Everyone shares the same vision and is dedicated to work toward our goals. The culture here at RTG is something that really drives a positive work environment.”

TJ Butler, Senior Recruiter, describes RTG as the best because he’s never worked at a place that genuinely puts people first.

“From the top down, RTG Medical understands the significance of its people, and that culture reflects on how we treat our traveling medical professionals.  I feel like we are one big family at RTG Medical. That culture and mindset makes it natural to carry it over to how we treat our Travelers.  Personally, I treat each and every Traveler I come across as a teammate/family member and not just a number because that’s how we are treated internally at RTG Medical.  I’ve been around the block a time or two but RTG Medical truly is a special place to be apart of.  When you hear people talking about the grass being greener on the other side, the other side is RTG Medical, and I can’t imagine a place where the grass could possibly be greener!”

RTG is proud to be named one of the Best Places To Work in Omaha for the third year in a row. We are thankful to be a part of a community that recognizes companies that are trying to build a better workplace and work to create cultures that put their employees first.

A special thank you to our amazing photographer, Elliot Janssen, for capturing the day of RTG celebrating its employees!

Why RTG Medical Employees Are Going to “Walk for the Animals” with Nebraska Humane Society

Did you know that 6 in 10 Americans own some type of pet? Also, according to ASPCA, there are 78 million dog owners and nearly 86 million cat owners.

Established in 2016, RTG Medical’s Community Partnership Program is an employee-driven effort to support local nonprofits that align with our company’s values. Leadership at RTG conducted a survey to poll employees on what they were passionate about and out of that survey came three categories: adoptable animals, veterans and the youth of our community. With our first initiative, adoptable animals, one of the organizations we partner with is the Nebraska Humane Society (NHS).

“My dog Maci is my best friend she loves to cuddle and is always so excited when I get home,” said Jenni Lundy, Senior Recruiter at RTG.

According to their website, the Nebraska Humane Society was founded in 1875. It is the fifth oldest humane society in the nation, and, today, is also one of the largest. They offer shelter to animals who have no place to call home and provide vital services to them and to the people who love them. Every year, more than 30,000 animals, including wildlife, find their way through NHS’s doors. Through their programs, they touch the lives of more than 200,000 people annually with their message of compassion and humane treatment for all living creatures. NHS is housed on a 13-acre campus with four buildings, 150 dedicated staff members, and 600 volunteers.

Jamie Haith, Senior Recruiter at RTG added, “I love working with the animal rescue groups we partner with because I have been a big rescue advocate my whole life. I personally have welcomed several small and large animals that have needed a new home. Cats, dogs, and horses… you name it. I love it!”

“NHS so appreciates our community partners. As a nonprofit organization, we rely on the compassion of companies like RTG Medical, who go the extra mile to help homeless animals,” Pam Wiese, Vice President of Public Relations and Marketing at the Nebraska Humane Society said. “We send RTG a big round of ‘appaws’ for taking the time to gather items and bring comfort and joy to homeless pets.”

Join RTG Medical and other community members at the NHS Walk for the Animals on September 30th from 11am-2pm! It is the largest annual event for dogs and their human companions. You can register here: Register for the Walk for the Animals »

A Moving ‘Wreaths Across America’ Ceremony

This is a guest blog written by Amy Nieman, RTG Medical’s Brand Ambassador. She is sharing her details of her experience from Wreaths Across America’s Omaha wreath-laying ceremony held on Saturday, December 16th at Omaha National Cemetary.

Before joining RTG Medical, I had not heard of the Wreaths Across America organization. I was in for a truly memorable experience this past weekend when I got to participate in their wreath-laying ceremony at Omaha National Cemetery.

On Saturday, December 16th, over 500 guests gathered to witness an incredibly patriotic event. Participants young and old took in the beautiful view and weather (even in December!). There were several guest speakers and ceremony wreath layers representing every branch of the United States military, including RTG Medical’s President & CEO, Charlie Janssen (U.S. Navy veteran of Desert Storm), and Senior Recruiter Zachary Crosby (Corporal with the U.S. Marine Corps).

Jimmy Weber sang touching versions of “The National Anthem” and “God Bless the USA” for the crowd. At the end of the ceremony, the families of those laid to rest placed a wreath on their loved one’s tombstone while “Amazing Grace” played on the bagpipes by the Omaha Police Department Pipe and Drums team.

What was moving most were the children in attendance who were able to participate and learn the purpose of remembering those who we’ve lost. A lot of emotion was felt on this day, between witnessing the children laying wreaths and the meaning behind the ceremony, it was tough not to tear up.

It was also special for me to be there as Mary Blodgett (WAA Omaha chapter Executive Director) announced that RTG Medical is the first corporate partner for the Wreaths Across America Omaha chapter. I have been able to see first-hand that we are a company who supports giving and volunteerism. In 2017, RTG employees donated $15,000 to this organization. With a company of nearly 80 employees, I feel that amount definitely goes above and beyond!

I am blessed to now have insight into what Wreaths Across America stands for, and I look forward to bringing my family to a future ceremony.
